COVID 19 FEW PRECAUTIONS FOR WORKPLACE SAFETY

The entire world is in the fear of Coronavirus disease 2019(Covid 19), an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, that can spread from animals to humans and then from person to person easily. This disease was initially reported in the seafood and meat market in Wuhan, China in December 2019 and then spread globally to more than 80 countries.  Till the date, over 1,26000 Covid-19 infected cases are reported globally. But, the comparatively low mortality(less than 6K globally) rate is a greater relief in this situation.

How did the coronavirus get started? According to the reports, the initial cause of Coronavirus disease 2019 is not identified. Reports of WHO states that Coronaviruses are zoonotic that are transmitted between animals and people. They reports that SARS-CoV was transmitted from civet cats to humans and MERS-CoV from dromedary camels to humans.

 How is coronavirus spread? Investigations reports that it will spread easily from humans to humans through contact with certain bodily fluids. Also, the other way of virus spreading is by touching anything that the infected person touched and then touching your face with that hands.

How to prepare for the coronavirus?

This article is intended to provide useful information for preventing Coronavirus at the workplace. As you know, there will be workers/employees from different regions in every organization and the risk of disease spreading is high in such situations. If one person in the organization is infected, it can easily spread to others. So, prevention is always better than cure. Make sure that you have taken all precautions to prevent the entry of Coronavirus to your body. Follow the below-mentioned rules and prevent the Coronavirus attack.

  • Identify the Symptoms at Earliest as Possible
  • Avoid Close Contact With Persons Who are Sick. For workplaces, advice employees to take rest at home when they are sick
  • Clean Your Hands Often With Soap and Water for at least 20 seconds. Also, carry a hand sanitizer and apply it at regular intervals.
  • Alert employees to cover their cough with a tissue or cough into their upper sleeve or elbow. Also, ask them to use facemasks if they are sick.
  • Avoid the Punching system. If it is compulsory, then keep a hand sanitizer near the punching machine and advise employees to use it before and after punching.
  • While using computers, mobile phones, A/C remotes, and other stationery that are commonly used in offices, apply hand sanitizers after and before using that.
  • Advice employees to stay indoor stay in contact with others for 14 days if they are returned from affected areas.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces like tables, switches, doorknobs, desks, phones, keyboards, mouse, etc… daily or at regular intervals.
  • Avoid company trips and events until this Coronavirus issue is solved.
  • Avoid business meetings if it can be rescheduled. If not possible, follow proper precautions as advised by the health department.
